SLOPPY FLOYD PARK & THE CHATTOOGA RIVER

Enjoy the nearby state park, named for Rep. James H “Sloppy” Floyd who served in the Georgia House of Representatives. This quiet getaway features a favorite gem just a short hike from the visitor’s center: The Marble Mine. Visitors enjoy fishing on two stocked lakes, hiking, kayaking, birdwatching and more. Take to the Chattooga River with launches at Lyerly and Chattoogaville. Other more primitive put-ins are found from Trion to Summerville. Remember to take out everything you put in to keep our river clean!

Experience the warmth of Summerville--The Friendship Capital of the World! Downtown Summerville comes alive with events throughout the year centered around our historic Summerville Depot. Tennessee  Valley Railroad Museum’s antique passenger train gives opportunity to see Summerville’s railroad turntable in action. It is one of the only such turntables in the Southeast.
